About Xavier
Xavier is confidence.
Life's a Drag (and we love it for that)
Xavier Diamond (known outside of drag as Mikki) began their journey in entertainment a little over 5 years ago in the small coastal town of New Bern, NC. At the very beginning, Mikki appeared in a few local community theatre shows including: In The Heights, Smokey Joe's Cafe, and a 1 hour independent show called Warrior Women, which brought many connections and friendships to Mikki's life. Through these connections, they were eventually asked to help create a Cabaret-style drag show as a choreographer at a local bar once known as The City Laundry (now known as Tap That). As time drew nearer to the show's debut, Mikki was invited by the director to take part in the show, not as a Queen... but as a King. Surprisingly enough, at that time Mikki had no idea that Drag Kings existed!

So, through days upon days of research and reaching out to other Kings on social media, Xavier Diamond finally made his first ever debut in October of 2015. It wasn't a huge show, but it was the first time Mikki got the chance to "be someone else for a night." It was so intoxicating that from then on Xavier became a huge part of Mikki's life—to the point that through performing as Xavier, Mikki was able to discover more about themself, including coming out as non-binary.

This passion for Drag and supporting the LGBTQ community started to gain the attention from audience members and aspiring performers alike. Within two years of performing, Xavier was mentoring new Kings to bring into the local scene. In almost a traditional way, Xavier "adopts" aspiring Kings and acts as a House Father, which includes providing life advice, guidance in developing their drag personas, and support as a friend. As of today, Xavier proudly mentors over 9 Kings, even though some do not perform (YET!) and continues to reach out to anyone who wants to give Drag a whirl.

Within 5 years, Xavier has been slowly finding themself in bigger venues, making more friends and colleagues, and having the best time doing what they love most. Who knows what the future might bring? Let’s find out.
